73-Year-Old Man Donates Generously to Female Streamers
In Quảng Châu, there is a famous elderly man named Trần, 73 years old, known by the nickname “livestream grandpa” because of his passion for gifting to female streamers on live streaming platforms. Over the past seven years, he has donated more than 100,000 RMB (over 360 million VND) – nearly equivalent to his entire monthly pension and retirement benefits, to give gifts to beautiful hot girls.
When his donations were discovered by the streamers and their families, he faced some backlash. However, he remained determined to pursue his “addiction” by collecting trash to make money and continue donating.

According to his son, every month, this elderly man usually transfers between 2,000 to 3,000 RMB (7-10 million VND) to female streamers. When funds run low, he even borrows money from his children, leading to conflicts within the family. As a senior citizen, he has become increasingly dependent on his children, demonstrating concerning behavior that pressures them to send him money or even steal their allowances for transfers. Ultimately, the two siblings had to kick him out of the house due to his inability to manage his behavior.
The Story of the Elderly Man Highlights a Disturbing Reality
Facing rejection from his family, Mr. Trần rented a small room, where he would collect trash during the day and then go online to participate in livestreams, sending small gifts and messages like “stay healthy” and “every day is a joy.” For him, the online community is not just entertainment but a place of “trust” – a space where he feels valued and acknowledged.

Mr. Trần’s story has sparked intense debate on social media. Many people are sympathetic, suggesting that he is merely an elderly man seeking companionship. However, there are also warnings that this is no longer just an innocent emotional quest but has turned into a problematic “addiction.”

Psychologists have increasingly analyzed the phenomenon of elderly individuals addicted to donating during livestreams. The primary reasons often stem from social isolation, a lack of family connections, and the need for recognition in a digital world – where emotional pressures can be felt almost immediately. Streamers, especially attractive female ones, may unintentionally or intentionally encourage this behavior to monetize their content, creating a vicious cycle that is challenging to “break” out of.
