Controversial Anniversary Edition of Wuthering Waves
During the livestream commemorating the 1st anniversary of the launch of Wuthering Waves, Kuro Games announced several significant updates. Among the highlights were improvements to the user experience (QoL), the introduction of two bikini skins for Carlotta and Changli, along with information about an upcoming collaboration with the Cyberpunk franchise.

However, the disappointing aspect for the community is that all the engaging content mentioned did not appear in the current anniversary version (2.3). The bikini skins will only be available in version 2.4, while the Cyberpunk collaboration is expected to debut in late 2026.

Meanwhile, update 2.3, which marks the anniversary version, only allows players to roll for characters fewer than 30 times. However, it also released up to 24 banners (including 12 characters and 12 weapons). This made players feel somewhat overwhelmed while not receiving sufficient rewards for their efforts.
Wuthering Waves Faces Criticism from the Gaming Community
Right after the livestream, across various social media platforms and forums, many players expressed their dissatisfaction. They felt that the rewards for this anniversary were too “stingy,” especially when compared to version 1.2, which was merely a patch but allowed free access to the 5-star character Xiangli Yao. Many voiced their disappointment as Kuro Games seemed to overlook this event, feeling that the rewards were merely “for the sake of having them.”

The wave of dissatisfaction led to a negative perception of the 1-star rating for Wuthering Waves on various platforms, significantly affecting the game’s image. However, contrary to the national gaming community, a significant portion of Vietnamese players maintained a more lenient view toward Kuro Games. Many believed that the criticism was too harsh, and some even faced backlash for expressing negative opinions.

Although Kuro Games has not issued an official response or adjustment, the wave of criticism remains unresolved. It is highly likely that if the gaming company does not address player concerns soon, they may lose a portion of their player base in the near future.
