Recently, DC Studios released the next trailer for Superman, the first live-action film project of the new DC Universe (DCU). While the previous trailer had very little substance and only focused on essential details related to Superman, such as the Daily Planet or the character Krypto, this time, director James Gunn has “opened up” a bit more about the film’s content, indicating that the DCU’s version of Clark Kent will delve deeper into the character’s humanity and emotional aspects.
Alongside the reveal, the trailer also showcases many unique details, creating a distinct identity for the DCU’s Superman compared to other versions. For instance, Lois Lane is aware of Clark Kent’s true identity; Lex Luthor and the Engineer play significant roles in the plot, and there are hints of the character’s potential struggles to achieve success as Superman. Furthermore, the Justice Gang, featuring characters like Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, and Hawkgirl, also offers a glimpse into their super abilities in this latest trailer.

One notable point to highlight in the new Superman trailer is that James Gunn has deeply explored the inner psyche of Superman. The character continuously exhibits various emotional states, from joy and self-confidence to simple moments of sadness and even despair. Clearly, the declaration that this will be “the most human version of Superman” according to James Gunn holds substantial weight.
David Corenswet has been chosen by James Gunn to don the iconic cape as Superman in the DCU. Additionally, the film features performances from Rachel Brosnahan (as Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (as Lex Luthor), Skyler Gisondo (as Jimmy Olsen), Isabela Merced (as Hawkgirl), Edi Gathegi (as Mister Terrific), and Nathan Fillion (as Green Lantern).
Superman is set to officially premiere on July 11, 2025.
