Warzone Mobile Takes Flight with a New Announcement
Recently, Activision officially announced the launch of Warzone Mobile just one year after its initial release. Specifically, starting from May 18, 2025, the game will be removed from app stores such as Google Play and the App Store, meaning that no new content or updates will be available. However, players who have already downloaded the game prior to this deadline can still log in and play with the current version, albeit with limited features.

According to the announcement from Activision, all in-game purchases using real money have been disabled immediately. Players can still use any existing COD Points in their accounts, but they will not be able to purchase more. Additionally, social features are also being phased out and will be removed in the near future.

This decision comes after a long period during which Warzone Mobile failed to receive any significant updates, leading to a growing disappointment among the gaming community and a lack of engagement. Prior to this, a major update was released on May 7, which was met with many criticisms, causing players to lose faith in the game’s recovery.
Activision Admits Warzone Mobile Did Not Meet Expectations
In the official statement, Activision expressed disappointment that Warzone Mobile “did not meet the expected standards” set by the company, especially concerning the mobile gaming audience, which is considered a strategic market. They revealed that the decision to halt distribution was made after “considering a multitude of important factors,” including performance metrics, community interest, and the overall impact on the game.

Since its launch in 2024, Warzone Mobile was initially viewed as a competitor to PUBG Mobile and Free Fire. However, the lack of clear content strategies, delays in updates, and controversial decisions like ending support for various devices have quickly caused the game to lose its appeal. The “silent retreat” began in early 2025 when the game’s social media channels became nearly inactive, with no exciting events or community engagement.

Activision has now encouraged players to transition to Call of Duty: Mobile, which remains a stable and more developed version. They are also offering some incentives to transfer accounts to keep players engaged in the COD ecosystem. While this may be seen as a disappointing conclusion, given everything that has transpired over the past year, it could be said that Warzone Mobile has never truly taken off as intended.
