A New Leak About Genshin Impact Leaves the Gaming Community Disheartened, Especially Those Awaiting the Release of the 5-Star Character Skirk.
According to information from HoYoverse’s official media channels, Skirk – the character using the Báng Đưỡng (Bathed in Light) weapon – is set to debut in version 5.7. However, some concerning changes have surfaced ahead of the release.

Unlike Other Characters in Genshin Impact, which typically rely on Hạt Năng Lượng (Energy Orbs) to enhance their abilities, Skirk will utilize a unique mechanic called Serpent’s Subtlety, accumulating points through the development of her abilities to increase damage output.
However, according to the latest leak, players will not be able to carry over these accumulated points to the next room in the Spiral Abyss. This change has sparked significant backlash in the community, with many suggesting that this undermines Skirk’s potential in the Abyss – a PvE area known for its high difficulty. In particular, losing all accumulated points after each battle makes her relatively ineffective in prolonged combat scenarios.

Some players have quickly compared Skirk’s current state to the unfortunate situation of Dehya – a character that was previously released but struggled due to her lackluster abilities. Many are worried that HoYoverse is repeating past mistakes, especially since the character Mavuika is also set to use a mechanic that allows her to carry points into the next round.
Rumors suggest that Skirk may receive buffs alongside other characters, which is seen as a necessary adjustment to balance her overall capabilities. However, with a 5-star character being released, the design focusing on a potential Achilles’ heel continues to raise concerns.

Besides the controversial point accumulation mechanic, players are also worried about Skirk’s heavy reliance on the newly introduced support character, Escoffier. It is believed that a significant portion of Skirk’s strength will stem from Escoffier’s buff abilities. This could limit creativity in team compositions, while also reducing flexibility – a critical attribute that is highly valued in Genshin Impact. Many have expressed concerns that without a strong synergy with Escoffier, Skirk’s combat performance could decline significantly, forcing players to invest resources or spend primogems to maximize her potential.

Despite the current leaks generating significant discussion, there are still about two weeks remaining before Skirk officially debuts. Players hope that HoYoverse will take community feedback into account and make necessary adjustments to Skirk’s mechanics or the effectiveness of her abilities to avoid repeating the “underwhelming character” trend seen with past releases.
