A Controversial Wave of Discontent Surges Through the Diablo 4 Gaming Community Following the Latest Update
Specifically, this revolves around the newly introduced Reliquaries system – a part of the user interface update in Season 8. Many opinions have criticized this as a complex and unclear design, which complicates the rewards targeting for players, especially when there is no prior confirmation notice before making a purchase.

Launched in Diablo 4 Season 8, the Reliquaries system is presented as an upgraded version of the traditional Battle Pass, promising a more engaging reward experience compared to previous offerings in the game.
Players now have the freedom to choose their preferred rewards instead of having to follow a linear progression as before. Reliquaries utilize two types of currency: Platinum – a high-tier currency purchased with real money, and Favor Tokens – which can be earned through defeating monsters in the game. However, the most contentious point lies within the reward selection interface. According to feedback from the Diablo 4 community, when players open the purchase interface, the three options that appear are: Purchase with Favor Tokens, Purchase with Platinum, and Cancel.

What’s particularly concerning is that the “Purchase with Platinum” option is situated in the middle, making it easy to click mistakenly, and even more alarming is the lack of any confirmation message after the player makes a selection. A single wrong click (or button press) could lead to players losing valuable Platinum currency in an instant. Additionally, Blizzard has stated that they do not refund accidental purchases. Players on Xbox face a more complex situation as “On Xbox, you press ‘X’ to claim the reward. On the next screen, ‘Y’ is for using Tokens, while ‘X’ is for using Platinum. Pressing ‘X’ twice in succession is… always cashing out. This cannot be an accidental mistake.”

Many users have also referred to the new interface as confusing, leading to frustration, and hope that Blizzard will soon redesign the purchasing confirmation system, or at the very least, add an additional step to confirm purchases to avoid unnecessary errors. As of now, Blizzard has yet to provide any official feedback concerning this issue. However, with the increasing frequency of complaints, pressure from the community is certainly expected to rise in the near future, especially since this matter relates directly to the issue of accidental purchases – a sensitive topic in live-service games.
