Call of Duty: Mobile Dominates the Mobile Gaming Scene in Vietnam
Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) is not just a mobile version of the iconic Call of Duty franchise; it has emerged as a significant player in the free-to-play mobile gaming landscape. Developed by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent, and globally published by Activision, CODM has rapidly captured the mobile gaming market since its launch in October 2019.

In Vietnam, Call of Duty: Mobile is officially published by VNG—one of the leading game publishers in the region. The global renown of the Call of Duty brand, combined with exceptional operational management, excellent community engagement, and continually updated game content, has led CODM to quickly win the hearts of Vietnamese gamers, especially long-time fans of the FPS genre.

Call of Duty: Mobile recreates the classic FPS experience on mobile platforms, ranging from multiplayer modes to battle royale, including legendary maps like Nuketown and Crash. The dynamic gameplay, engaging graphics, and versatile mechanics have solidified CODM’s status as a “national game” among global mobile shooters, including Vietnam.
After Six Years, Call of Duty: Mobile Remains a Sensation
According to the latest information shared on John Matthews’ LinkedIn profile—the current product director of Call of Duty: Mobile (who also serves as the product director for Diablo Immortal)—this game has officially surpassed 3 billion USD in revenue and achieved over 1 billion downloads worldwide—an impressive milestone for a free mobile game.

Notably, CODM reached 100 million downloads within the first week of its release, four times more than other competitive FPS titles like PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, or Apex Legends Mobile. Although there are concerns about the emergence of Warzone Mobile potentially overshadowing CODM, the reality proves otherwise: Warzone Mobile primarily serves as a complementary experience, while CODM continues to thrive and grow—both in revenue and player engagement.

The free-to-play model of Call of Duty: Mobile is considered a key to its success. Despite being completely free to play, CODM generates substantial revenue through its Battle Pass system, COD points, and premium items. This approach not only ensures player retention but also creates a stable financial ecosystem for developers and publishers.
Overall, six years since its launch, Call of Duty: Mobile has not only maintained its popularity but has also increasingly affirmed its status as a “milestone” in the global mobile gaming industry.
