The First Berserker: Khazan Receives Mixed Reviews and Player Feedback
The newly launched action role-playing game, The First Berserker: Khazan, developed by Nexon, has not met its initial sales targets. However, the publisher considers this a crucial step in its strategy to expand the global presence of the Dungeon & Fighter brand.

According to the latest financial report from Nexon for Q1, The First Berserker: Khazan, released in March, did not achieve its expected sales figures.
Despite this, Nexon representatives emphasized the importance of introducing the Dungeon & Fighter brand to a global audience—part of a long-term strategy that has been in place for many years. For many Western players, Dungeon & Fighter remains a relatively obscure title, but the original version, released in 2005, has generated significant revenue, exceeding $22 million as of March 2023, placing it among the most successful game franchises. However, many game expansions and adaptations have yet to see widespread release outside of Asia.

On the aggregator platform OpenCritic, The First Berserker: Khazan has achieved an average score of 81—a commendable figure for a hardcore game that does not fall under the blockbuster category. The game has received numerous accolades, particularly for its combat mechanics, unique boss designs, and a deep character development system that combines elements of action gameplay with a soulslike style. However, there are several aspects that left players unsatisfied, such as the lack of a central hub—an inconvenience in certain situations, although the community has quickly found alternative solutions. Despite not hitting its sales targets, Nexon and Neople are actively working to maintain the game’s vitality through regular updates. On May 15, the game received two major updates. Additionally, the updates included new maps, enhancements to user experience, and bug fixes.

According to a statistic from Neople, as of April 10, players have logged a total of 54,271,087 game sessions. Among these, Viper has been ranked as the most challenging boss, with over 7 million players encountering difficulties against this particular monster.
