In recent days, the new version of Power Rangers has been causing quite a stir among fans of the franchise worldwide, showcasing a more sophisticated and well-developed plot compared to the earlier Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film aimed at children.
In addition to visual changes, the main cast also slightly shifted in terms of content, particularly the character of Rita Repulsa, who has emerged as one of the most intriguing focal points of the film. Notably, Rita Repulsa has been redesigned to appear more sinister and unpredictable than ever before.
However, a full image of Rita’s character design has been compared by avid Power Rangers fans and has led many to question whether Rita Repulsa is indeed a true Power Ranger.
This design may seem unreasonable at first glance, but when viewed objectively, it aligns well with what the production team has laid out, including the visuals and the details in the official trailer for everything that the Power Rangers version has to offer.
The similarities between Rita’s costume and that of the Power Rangers group
Initially, we learned that the team in the film is not the first generation of Power Rangers as Rita Repulsa stated, “This is not the first time we have killed a Ranger.” Thus, previously, there must have been many generations of Power Rangers who fell under Rita’s control.
Next, in the recent image, we can see many common elements between the Power Rangers group’s costumes and those that Rita wears. If we change the color to green and add some sharp details, we might see a transformation of the Power Rangers into the costume that Rita is wearing.
Could Rita have been the Green Ranger before this?
Ultimately, as we have learned, in the current Power Rangers version, we have a green superhero who also has traits that cross between good and evil. Therefore, it seems reasonable to suggest that Rita in the new Power Rangers film might have once been the Green Ranger, although there may not be enough evidence to support this.
However, we all know that Rita and Zordon, the trainer of the Power Rangers team, have been rivals for a very long time, so if there’s a storyline where Rita becomes a Ranger, it certainly must have happened centuries or even thousands of years ago. And through that, there must have been many other Rangers chosen to lead against her.
