AnimeJapan 2025 is an upcoming event that will share exciting news about several anime projects. The website has also launched a survey to gather opinions on 47 manga titles that fans are eagerly waiting to see adapted into anime. However, unlike in 2024, Kagurabachi will not be included this year.
This is also true for Sakamoto Days, which will not be featured in 2024 and is scheduled for an anime adaptation announcement in the same year. The anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days is set to debut as part of the Fall 2025 season and has already received positive feedback.
Considering AnimeJapan 2025, where there is a direct suggestion regarding the anime Kagurabachi, it is reasonable to hope for an announcement at some point this year.

The manga Kagurabachi, published in Weekly Shonen Jump and created by Takeru Hokazono, debuted in September 2023 and has been releasing chapters weekly since then. To date, 63 chapters have been published on the official Manga Plus platform.
With only 63 chapters currently available, there is potential for a 12 or 13 episode season. Generally, it is usually too early to announce an anime adaptation, but there are instances where productions have started sooner than expected. AnimeJapan 2025 will take place in March, but there has been no confirmed information regarding this event related to Kagurabachi. Given the manga’s rising popularity, we might receive updates within this year.

There are many rumors about the manga Kagurabachi being adapted into anime in the past.
Alongside the speculations surrounding AnimeJapan 2025, rumors regarding the anime adaptation of Kagurabachi have circulated since July 2024. According to one report, Shueisha has filed a trademark application for the name Kagurabachi for various types of media, including animation. This trademark is crucial for securing rights related to anime projects, making enthusiasts of Kagurabachi view this news as a promising sign.
Moreover, Toyo Keizai has reported that Cygames Pictures, associated with “Cyberagent x Shochiku Production,” will be responsible for the anime adaptation. However, this report has yet to be confirmed by an official source. Cyberagent is known for producing the popular anime series Oshi no Ko. Additionally, in the same month, Netflix revealed plans to produce anime adaptations of both Kagurabachi and Akane-banashi.

The official X account of Netflix Japan shared a brief introduction titled “With Friends, Jump Anime and Netflix,” showcasing glimpses of various anime adaptations including One Piece, Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Blue Box. The accompanying video stated: “A large collection of Jump anime series on Netflix! You can enjoy classic anime and the latest exciting new titles on Netflix!”.
It is not surprising that this introduction also highlighted scenes from the manga adaptations of Kagurabachi and Akane-banashi, further fueling speculation about Netflix acquiring the anime rights to other popular Shonen Jump titles like Sakamoto Days.
