Monopoly (also known as 卡特夫) has long been one of the most famous game brands worldwide, with hundreds of versions released annually – ranging from various themed editions to fully immersive gameplay enhancements.
Over time, several versions have become legendary, some transforming into high-value collector’s items that avid game enthusiasts passionately seek.

The iconic game version by Sidney Mobell is still regarded as the most luxurious edition of Monopoly in the world today.
Created by artist Sidney Mobell – a specialist in manufacturing gold-plated items and exquisite jewelry, this version is the epitome of luxury: featuring a solid gold board, pure gold playing pieces, and all crafted as an artistic royal masterpiece. It is currently displayed at the Museum of American Finance in New York; this rare item is not for sale but serves as a symbol of wealth for every serious collector. Its estimated value is around 2 million USD (approximately 52 billion VND).

Competing closely in terms of uniqueness is the Monopoly 3D – New York City Edition. Launched in 2013 and designed by artist Charles Fazzino, this version makes a strong impression with its vibrant three-dimensional artwork, encapsulating the essence of New York. Only 2,000 copies were produced, featuring over 170 unique decorative pieces and specially designed playing tokens. The selling price fluctuates significantly, averaging around 1,000 USD but sometimes reaching nearly 5,000 USD (about 130 million VND).

Additionally, there are a few other ultra-rare versions like the Classic Monopoly by Charles Darrow, which was created by the father of Monopoly himself, crafted by hand and produced on a fabric base. He reportedly made only 5,000 copies after Parker Brothers initially rejected his idea for mass production. One such board was purchased by the Strong National Museum of Play (Rochester, New York) for a whopping 146,500 USD. Then there’s the final edition produced in Salem. When Hasbro acquired Monopoly and the factory in Salem, Massachusetts, they produced 650 unique copies for employees. One board was listed for sale on eBay for 2,100 USD and is considered one of the rarest versions still in existence.
