Originally named Wu Zhao, she entered the imperial palace at the young age of 14 during the reign of Emperor Taizong (reigned 626-649). In the palace, she was given the name Wu Mei Nü.
Her alluring beauty had a profound impact on Emperor Gaozong, who fell deeply in love with her. However, Wu Mei Nü was not without her challenges, as she faced significant competition in the palace.

Wu Zetian (a title given posthumously, with the full title being “Empress Dowager Wu Zetian”) held power for over 40 years. According to legend, even at the age of 82, when she passed away, she remained captivating. This explains why, even during the reign of Emperor Gaozong, she managed to maintain much of her charm, which continued to captivate those around her.
