The third season of **Kimetsu no Yaiba**, titled **Swordsmith Village Arc**, has premiered, introducing us to a new character who wields a unique weapon to combat demons. This character is **Genya Shinazugawa**, the younger brother of the Hashira, **Sanemi Shinazugawa**. However, the two brothers do not see eye to eye.
In this episode, Genya uses a shotgun to fight against the Upper Moon demon **Hantengu** (one of the six most powerful demons under the control of **Muzan Kibutsuji**) when he encounters **Tanjiro**, **Nezuko**, and **Hashira** **Tokito Muichiro**, who are caught off guard. Before this, Tanjiro and Muichiro had engaged the demon but were unable to defeat it completely as it was able to split into several forms. Later, Muichiro was attacked and fell into one of these forms.
However, Genya’s introduction has sparked much debate among fans regarding his character’s strength. Notably, Genya’s full potential has not yet been revealed in the anime, so if you want to avoid spoilers, it’s best to read this article with caution.
Genya is recognized for his remarkable physical strength. He possesses a unique ability that allows him to consume demon flesh, temporarily granting him powers similar to those of the demons, and his healing abilities are enhanced. However, this consumption of demon flesh has a downside: it can be detrimental to Genya’s own body.

What sets Genya apart from other demon slayers is his ability to wield a shotgun against demons. He uses a special type of shotgun created from unique materials that can produce the sword techniques of demon slayers. The shotgun is utilized alongside **Mokutan**, a form of Demon Slayer technique that Genya possesses.
After absorbing the properties of the demon flesh, Genya can manipulate the demon’s attacks and movements when firing. If Genya’s shotgun hits a demon, the demon will experience a significant delay in their response time, making them vulnerable to further attacks.
Although there has yet to be an official confirmation of Genya’s **Nichirin Blade**, it is noted that his weapon does not have a unique color scheme, and he rarely uses the blade in battle against demons. According to **Senjuro**, the younger brother of the Flame Hashira **Kyojuro Rengoku**, a demon slayer must possess a distinct Nichirin Blade color to harness their full potential.
Considering that the Upper Moon demon **Hantengu** possesses rapid regeneration abilities, Genya is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming battles against this formidable opponent.
