Bringing the Charm and Atmosphere of The Witcher 3, Darkest Dungeon, Baldur’s Gate 3, and XCOM, the tactical role-playing game Prelude Dark Pain has successfully captured the gaming community’s attention, raising funds on Kickstarter just 12 hours after its launch.
In the golden age of tactical RPGs, from XCOM 2 to Baldur’s Gate 3, Prelude Dark Pain has managed to carve out a unique niche with its stunning art style and deep gameplay mechanics. Set in a dark fantasy environment, players assume the role of a hero named Soren, the leader of a band of brave warriors fighting to save the land of Statera from the destructive forces that have ravaged it through various realms.

The game will feature a grid-based combat system, emphasizing positioning and tactical abilities that play a crucial role. With over 20 characters to choose from, divided into 8 classes, and each character having 2 unique skill branches along with 25 distinct abilities that can be customized, Prelude Dark Pain promises to deliver an incredibly deep tactical experience that is essential for any RPG enthusiast.
The Kickstarter campaign was launched with an initial goal of 40,000 euros (over 1 billion VND), and within the first 12 hours, Prelude Dark Pain raised over 54,000 euros, and that number continues to grow rapidly. If this pace is maintained, various stretch goals will be unlocked. Specifically, reaching 60,000 euros will allow for additional character classes and new gameplay mechanics. At 75,000 euros, the game will introduce new crafting systems and materials. At 100,000 euros, players will receive additional gameplay features. Finally, with 120,000 euros, Prelude Dark Pain will include a new campaign titled “Demon Hunters” featuring 4 new heroes.

Returning to the gameplay content, in Prelude Dark Pain, players, alongside their victorious battles, will also explore the main storyline related to the evil faction Ashen Crusade and the Church of Pain, which serves as the primary antagonist in the game.
The environment and artistic style are reminiscent of the battles in The Witcher 3, featuring a multitude of vibrant environments and characters designed with depth. Your choices will significantly impact the progression and outcomes of the journey— from the strategic positioning of your heroes that will influence the development of the main storyline. The world of Statera is home to over 20 diverse cultures, each uniquely developed.
Players will be able to build and manage their base, creating a space for heroes to rest, as well as assign various tasks to heroes who do not belong to the main storyline, such as rescuing villagers or gathering information about the enemy.

Quickfire Games, the development studio behind Prelude Dark Pain, plans to release the game on Steam Early Access in 2026. From now on, players can wishlist the game to stay updated with the latest news.
