Gen.G Balances Achievements with T1, Yet Falls Short in a Key Aspect
Recently, Gen.G officially concluded the Regular Seasons 2025 with an unprecedented achievement of winning 18 matches throughout the month, marking a significant milestone for Gen.G. Starting from Spring 2024, when Gen.G began their impressive winning streak, they still lack a championship title in the overall standings (having lost previously to KT Rolster). Therefore, with this latest achievement, it signifies a remarkable milestone for Gen.G, helping them balance their accomplishments with T1, who started their winning run in Spring 2022.

However, within the broader League of Legends community and even among Gen.G fans, there is a recognition that these unbeaten achievements seem somewhat… “bittersweet” for this team and especially for Chovy. After all, despite the undefeated record and the accolades, Chovy still has not stepped onto the stage of a World Championship finals.
Among the current five members of Gen.G, only Kiin and Duro have the potential to share this “burden” with Chovy. Duro recently joined Gen.G this year, while Kiin has been close to a focus team, Afreeca Freecs (now Kwangdong Freecs and currently DN Freecs), nearing the end of his career. Canyon and Ruler have even expressed their desire to retire as they have already achieved great glory.

Will This Be the Last Season Gen.G Can Match T1?
On various platforms, fans seem to collectively acknowledge: “Every year is ‘Gen.G’s year,’ but they always stumble at the most critical moments.” Chovy himself, during this period of significant accomplishments, has also struggled to contribute effectively to help his team achieve favorable outcomes.

Gen.G has undergone significant changes, consistently altering their lineup to achieve milestones. T1 has been consistent with ZOFGK for three consecutive years and has claimed two World Championship titles. Thus, if Gen.G continues to struggle at this year’s World Championship, it may be crucial for Chovy to feel a fresh start.
