G2 Faces Criticism for Blaming T1 as a Reason for “Content Creation”
As of now, five teams have officially qualified for First Stand 2025: HLE (LCK), TES (LPL), TL (LTA), CFO (LCP), and KC (LEC). Among them, the name that has drawn significant attention is KC, as this team has recently defeated G2 with a convincing score of 3-0 in the Grand Finals. This result has left G2 feeling the pressure of T1, especially as they will be watching from home during the First Stand 2025 due to being unable to secure a championship title in the region.

What is noteworthy here is that after the match concluded, G2 made a “content creation” statement by blaming T1 for their failure. Specifically, G2’s X account posted a comment regarding their home defeat of 0-3 against KC, stating: “Since T1 did not participate in First Stand, we decided to play this tournament anyway.” These remarks from G2 led to criticism from fans and analysts alike.

It is important to note that in the recent match, G2 was outperformed by KC across all aspects, particularly in individual plays. The standout performance from Caps came with many personal errors, despite him being considered a top-tier mid-laner in LEC. This defeat further deepens the pressure on G2, as their usually reliable player – Yike – has also been unable to perform at his best level, aiding KC in their victory. This situation has generated significant pressure on G2, especially when they used T1 as a scapegoat for the loss.

Both T1 and G2 Need to Bounce Back Quickly in the Future
Considering the overall context, both T1 and G2’s absence from First Stand 2025 is revealing deep-rooted issues that are not easily resolved. For T1, the ongoing “drama” surrounding Smash is creating significant tension within the team, which is not being handled effectively. This issue needs to be resolved quickly to ensure that the team is stable heading into the World Championship. Otherwise, T1 could struggle to compete in the LCK.

Meanwhile, G2 is facing significant challenges as star players like Caps and Hans Sama are no longer performing at their expected levels. It is clear that LEC is no longer a playground exclusively for G2, with emerging teams like KC and MKOI showcasing excellent talents. On the other hand, FNC is still maintaining a solid lineup to compete against G2 in this region. If these star players continue to underperform as they have recently, it wouldn’t be surprising if G2 fails to reclaim their former glory in the 2025 season.
