The Sexy Bombshell of 2016: “Colorful Flight” and Its Nostalgic Appeal
Launched for the first time in 2016, Destiny Child quickly became a sensation known for its unique Live2D graphics style and captivating female characters that brought a vibrant and immersive experience. Developed by Shift Up in collaboration with NextFloor, the game drew attention thanks to the artistic talents of Kim Hyung Tae, the “father” of the female characters from Blade & Soul. From the Closed Beta phase in South Korea, Destiny Child attracted a large number of players, particularly fans who appreciated its exquisite design and vibrant aesthetics.

The highlight of Destiny Child lies not only in its gameplay for up to 5 players with a new combat system but also in its animated character expressions and movements, enhanced by Live2D technology. Each time a character levels up, their outfit changes to a sexier and more powerful version, creating a captivating combat experience. This very feature has helped the game gain immense popularity, achieving millions of downloads shortly after its release.

However, after many years of operation, Destiny Child officially entered its “colorful flight” phase in September 2023, marking a significant milestone that stirred nostalgia among the global gaming community.
Is the Mobile Game Destiny Child Set for a “Revival”?
Initially thought to be closing its journey, Destiny Child unexpectedly announced a “revival” after 2 years of being in its “colorful flight” phase. On November 6, 2024, Com2uS officially announced a partnership with Shift Up to redevelop Destiny Child in an entirely new format: an idle RPG. The new version will be developed by Tikitaka Studio, a subsidiary specializing in idle games, with the goal of making the gameplay experience more appealing in the current mobile gaming market.

Yesterday (May 15, 2025), Com2uS and Shift Up officially announced the timeline for Destiny Child’s return to the market. Accordingly, the game is set to “debut” globally in 2026. Com2uS also strongly emphasized that the new version will be a fusion of nostalgia while maintaining the essence and unique characteristics of Destiny Child, alongside incorporating modern upgrades to enhance the gameplay experience.

It is hoped that this revival will not only satisfy loyal fans but also bring Destiny Child closer to the global gaming community in a brand new and familiar way, providing an experience that is “as rich as sweet water.”
