In my creative career, manga artist Akira Toriyama has gained significant fame for his work on the Dragon Ball series, which was published in Vietnam under the title “7 Viên Ngọc Rồng.” However, alongside this iconic title, he has also produced numerous other works, with perhaps the most notable and familiar to fans in Vietnam being Dr. Slump, a comedic manga about the genius inventor Senbei Norimaki and his robot girl Arale, who adds a touch of whimsy to the story.
Today, we will get acquainted with another work by Akira Toriyama that also has a connection to Dragon Ball, namely Neko Majin.
Neko Majin is a one-shot manga series created by Akira Toriyama from 1999 to 2005, consisting of 8 volumes, published in the Weekly Shounen Jump and Monthly Shounen Jump magazines. By 2005, the series had been compiled into a volume and was published by Shueisha under the title Neko Majin Z.
The storyline revolves around the adventures of Neko Majin, a mischievous cat-like creature who enjoys martial arts and loves to play pranks on those around him. This character has also been featured in the Dragon Ball universe, where he is trained by Son Goku to master various martial arts techniques.
The narratives in Neko Majin focus on the daily life of this quirky character, highlighting his martial arts training through a series of humorous situations.
According to recent information, Kim Đô Publishing House has acquired the publishing rights and is preparing to release all 8 volumes of Neko Majin. The manga will feature appearances from familiar characters such as Son Goku, Vegeta, Kuriza, and Majin Buu. Notably, the 8 volumes will be printed with different covers, making this edition unique and true to the character of Neko Majin.
Currently, news about this new manga compilation is attracting considerable attention from comic fans in Vietnam.
