If you are a die-hard fan of Superman or Supergirl, you are likely familiar with the existence of Kryptonite. Originating from the planet Krypton, Superman’s home, Kryptonite is a substance that became known after the destruction of this planet, with some fragments landing on Earth.
Kryptonite made its first appearance in the radio program “The Adventures of Superman” in 1943, and by 1949, it was officially introduced in comic in Superman #61. By 1952, it was featured on screen for the first time in the television series “Adventures of Superman.” Over 20 years later, it appeared prominently in the blockbuster film “Superman: The Movie” in 1978.
While most people associate Kryptonite with the standard green variant that weakens Superman and other Kryptonians, there are actually over 20 different types of Kryptonite existing in the comic universe, each with unique effects:

Initially depicted as a dull color in 1949, it was officially changed to green in Action Comics #161 in 1951. This type is the most common and is known for its ability to weaken Superman and other Kryptonians. In some cases, it can adversely affect Earthlings upon prolonged exposure.
