Nanatsu no Taizai (English title: The Seven Deadly Sins) is a Japanese manga series created by Nakaba Suzuki. The story began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine starting from issue 45 in 2012, and Kodansha has published it into 13 tankōbon volumes as of February 2015. Set in a fictional version of Europe during the medieval period, the series incorporates many elements of European mythology and folklore.
The narrative kicks off in the Kingdom of Liones, where the “Seven Deadly Sins” begin to gather strength amid rising tensions and impending war, referred to as the “War of the Holy Knights.” As a result, the Holy Knights have initiated a coup against the kingdom’s rulers, leading to a struggle for power and the liberation of the people.
