The Anime Dragon Ball Daima Will Conclude on February 28, Just a Month After Its Premiere
The upcoming event is expected to be a grand celebration for the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball franchise, which has become a cultural phenomenon in Japan. On social media and various industry forums, discussions have been rampant, with many expressing a common sentiment: “Dragon Ball GT is definitely better than Dragon Ball Daima.”

After the release of the final episode, fans have been quick to compare and critique. “Only 20 episodes? Even the battles in Dragon Ball Z were longer,” one fan lamented. Others argued that the series felt unnecessarily stretched, with comments like: “It feels like they dragged a 10-episode story into 20 episodes. Too much filler, not enough action.”
When it comes to comparisons, many fans have voiced their opinions: “Is GT really that bad? Compared to Dragon Ball Daima, it’s clearly a work of art.” One fan remarked: “At least GT gave us Super Saiyan 4, what has DAIMA brought back for us? Nothing at all.”

One of the crucial points in the new storyline is the character Gomah, who has unfortunately been met with disappointment: “He doesn’t seem to cause any real trouble, and there’s a feeling that he’s not the main antagonist.”
Additionally, there have been critiques regarding the lack of engaging battles in Daima: “In Z, we had Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu… here, even the villains seem uninterested in serious fights. There’s no sense of danger.”
With Akira Toriyama’s involvement concluding in March 2024, many are speculating about whether the end of the series was a creative choice or a necessity: “Did Toriyama step back and Toei decide to cut everything short?” However, fans are adamant that the series was completed before the author’s departure: “From the start, it was stated that there would be 20 episodes. This isn’t a cut short, just a compact storyline.”
Another common criticism is the portrayal of characters not returning to their classic forms. “In GT, at least Goku returned to his usual size in Super Saiyan 4 form. Here, there’s nothing at all,” one fan commented.
With the conclusion of Dragon Ball Daima, some fans believe the franchise is reaching an end:
“The situation is becoming more tense. Super has its own unique moments, but this series no longer feels like Dragon Ball to me.”
