DC Studios to Develop Movies Featuring Bane and Deathstroke
Batman has always been a name that captivates major film and television studios worldwide. Even related projects featuring this superhero have garnered significant interest from audiences. This is precisely why DC Studios is actively exploring characters like Batman, with a slew of projects in the pipeline, including Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to Joker, which is set to release on October 4, and the current series The Penguin streaming on Max.
However, Warner Bros. has not confirmed any specific details regarding these two films yet, especially as they prepare to introduce a completely new version of Batman within the DC Universe (DCU) being developed by Peter Safran and James Gunn. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that DC Studios is working on a film project centered around Bane and Deathstroke, two of the most notorious adversaries of Bruce Wayne.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Orton, the screenwriter of Captain America: Brave New World, has completed the script for the film that combines Bane and Deathstroke. Furthermore, DC Studios is intensively searching for suitable actors for this project. However, neither Warner Bros. nor James Gunn has provided any responses prior to the information release from The Hollywood Reporter.
Nonetheless, as reported by Deadline, the new film focusing on Bane and Deathstroke may not necessarily fall under the DCU. Following the success of Joker, The Batman, and with the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, it is plausible that this new film could be classified within DC Elseworlds—a collection of projects set outside the main DC Universe. This approach is seen as a “creative sandbox,” allowing DC Studios to explore any storyline and character without being overly tied to the ongoing narrative within the cinematic universe.
Conversely, if the Bane and Deathstroke film is indeed part of the DCU, it could serve as a prequel for the upcoming Arkham Asylum series that DC Studios is launching. While it may not directly involve the Arkham setting or reference Arkham Prison, the inclusion of Bane and Deathstroke would deepen the DCU narrative and lead to future events related to Batman.
