The cast of the blockbuster movie “Deepwater Horizon” includes renowned actors such as Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien, and Kate Hudson. The film, which focuses on the devastating oil rig disaster, is set to hit theaters at the end of September this year.

On April 20, 2010, the deepwater drilling rig known as Deepwater Horizon made headlines when it experienced a catastrophic blowout that led to the largest oil spill in history. Over a span of 87 days, more than 50,000 barrels of oil gushed into the Gulf of Mexico, marking one of the most significant environmental disasters in human history.

Not only does Deepwater Horizon reenact this historical event on the big screen, but it also offers audiences a unique perspective that the public has not widely known before. Previously, the discussions surrounding this issue primarily revolved around environmental concerns, but this film will tell the gripping story of the 126 workers who were present on the rig during the fateful day.

The film highlights the lives of these workers as they attempt to return home to their families, while simultaneously facing one of the darkest moments of their lives. As they stand on the brink of survival, they must race against the clock, battling the impending disaster to protect themselves and each other.

Notably, the film’s authenticity is heightened by the participation of Mike Williams, a real-life worker who survived the disaster. He expressed his appreciation for how Wahlberg and the filmmakers have depicted the harrowing experience he endured: “The actors and filmmakers have captured every essential detail that I, along with the other survivors, went through. The main purpose of this project is to honor the 11 men who lost their lives.”
Deepwater Horizon will officially premiere in Vietnam on September 30, 2016.
