miHoYo and the Space Invasion Campaign
Recently, miHoYo, the creator of popular games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact: Star Rail, has collaborated with law enforcement to launch a campaign against online cheating that has lasted for more than half a year.
According to reports from Chinanews, since June 2024, the Chinese police have discovered many criminal gangs publicly selling cheating software for various games developed by miHoYo. Investigations reveal that members of these gangs operate under the radar and distribute their products across multiple regions, making it quite challenging to track them down.

However, law enforcement has successfully collaborated with miHoYo to achieve significant results, arresting 32 suspects, seizing 25 computers, shutting down 27 online stores, and recovering over 1 million Chinese Yuan (around 350,000 USD).

According to the investigation, one suspect initially learned to create cheating plug-ins as a way to “replicate skills.” However, the financial benefits from selling these plug-ins eventually led him to engage in illegal activities. The case is still under investigation, but according to legal standards, creating and using cheating software can constitute a criminal offense.
miHoYo’s Firm Commitment to Protect Players’ Rights
miHoYo has stated that, for a long time, its legal department has maintained a strict and relentless attitude towards combating illegal activities. In the future, miHoYo will continue to employ stronger measures to counter the “dark industry” that is thriving, ensuring the protection of players’ rights and legitimate interests.

Despite this, it is evident that this process is not straightforward. Over the years, various hacks and cheats have consistently surfaced in different forms.
