Dragon Ball has officially celebrated its 40th anniversary since the iconic manga by Akira Toriyama was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Within this timeframe, a completely new anime titled Dragon Ball Daima has been introduced, featuring a storyline that has never been seen in previous films. However, this experience is very different from what fans might expect.
Dragon Ball Daima is based entirely on the original story by Akira Toriyama, featuring a completely new cast of characters. The plot begins with King Gomah casting a spell that transforms Goku and all related characters from the Majin Buu arc into children.
Currently, producer Akio Iyoku has explained the reasoning behind this transformation, stating that it serves two primary purposes. Firstly, it aims to provide older fans with a familiar experience while introducing something new to engage audiences today.

Why is Goku Returning as a Child?
As explained by producer Akio Iyoku during a special 40th-anniversary broadcast of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Daima plays a crucial role in re-establishing connections with older fans. A younger Goku presents a scenario that is entirely different from Dragon Ball Super, targeting both new and longtime fans.
When discussing the transformation of all characters into children rather than just Goku, the production team emphasized that they wanted to create a narrative that could appeal to everyone as they follow the events of the Majin Buu arc.
Iyoku expressed concern regarding the length of Dragon Ball Daima, stating that it is uncertain how long this new anime will run. At the same time, he also hinted at some exciting developments regarding the future of Dragon Ball Daima. He noted that not only is there a new hidden element being developed for the series, but there are also many potential plans in the works for the overall Dragon Ball franchise.
It remains unclear whether this will be a continuation of Dragon Ball Daima or other projects like Dragon Ball Super; however, the future of the anime seems bright.
