Since its release in February, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 has sparked ongoing debates among gamers.
Despite a high price point, the gameplay has suffered from various issues, leading to a decline in player engagement. Many gamers are still turning to Civilization 6, the previous version, instead of embracing the new installment.

Furthermore, Civilization 7 continues to face significant challenges, raising concerns about the game’s future.
Specifically, the developers at Firaxis have attempted to enhance the quality of their game by releasing a new DLC titled Crossroads of the Worlds on March 25. This DLC will be divided into two phases, with the first update, version 1.1.0, initially unlocking key features in Part 1 of the DLC, introducing Ada Lovelace, England, and Carthage as new civilizations in the game. Meanwhile, Part 2 will not be released until after March 25.

However, instead of just unlocking Part 1 as planned, PS5 players who purchased the DLC or hold the Founder’s Edition of Civilization VII will have access to both parts of Crossroads of the Worlds three weeks before the official release date. Importantly, this benefit does not affect the versions on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, leaving many players on these platforms feeling slighted as they witness PS5 players enjoy the updates ahead of time. Some discussions have emerged, suggesting that PS5 players are experiencing a “time travel” advantage, given that they can preview content before the release date of March 25.

As of now, Firaxis has not issued any statements regarding this situation, leaving the community of gamers confused about the forthcoming resolutions. Some individuals are expressing concerns that Firaxis might release a patch to remove DLC content from accounts that have accessed it. In contrast, many hope that the developers will acknowledge this issue and release the DLC early for all platforms, ensuring fairness for every gamer. Regardless of how Firaxis decides to handle the situation, it is certain that they will face backlash from a segment of the community.
