After many months of intense advertising, the anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End has finally premiered, and fans have been divided into various factions. Some viewers are quite fond of the anime adaptation produced by Studio A-Cat based on the popular web novel by TurtleMe. However, others have expressed their dissatisfaction with this anime.
Episode 2, released at the beginning of this week, has become the target of many criticisms, mainly focusing on the less engaging animation during the battle scenes. The ongoing debate surrounding The Beginning After the End has even led some fans to suggest completely canceling the anime and starting over.
The first episode of The Beginning After the End opened to mixed reviews and reactions from fans. The debut episode ranked 6.7 on IMDb and received quite polarized feedback on social media. However, Episode 2, titled “The King, Under Attack,” has seen many viewers expressing their frustration with its lack of quality.

Fans Demand the The Beginning After the End Anime Be Rebooted
A fan, using the name Nachoo TM, has taken to Change.org to initiate a petition. The goal of this petition is to “demand the cancellation and complete reboot of the anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End.” As of now, it has garnered several thousand signatures.
The petition’s description reads: “As a passionate fan of the webtoon and novel series TBATE (The Beginning After The End), I am completely disappointed and frustrated due to the poor quality of the recent anime adaptation. The current portrayal of the series is not only lacking but also fails to do justice to the original work and the feelings of its dedicated fanbase. This represents a significant decline in quality compared to other original works.”
The petition highlights several points that fans have raised following Episode 2. “The lack of dynamic storytelling and horrifying animation makes the anime feel like a poorly done PowerPoint presentation,” is a sentiment echoed by many fans on social media. By the end of the lengthy petition description, Nachoo TM has requested the creator of The Beginning After the End, TurtleMe, to “help us!”

Will The Beginning After the End Anime Be Able to Improve?
While it might seem like a minor detail that only a large portion of the light novel fans are unhappy with the anime adaptation after just two episodes, is the anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End really deserving of such intense criticism? Regardless of whether the petition’s demand to redo the anime is justified or if the adaptation itself is a disappointment, The Beginning After the End does not lose its standards compared to some other action anime released this year.
One can understand why many fans are struggling with this adaptation. Given that many future episodes are likely to include numerous action scenes, the quality of the battles in Episode 2 has left fans concerned about the larger-scale fight scenes that will appear in upcoming episodes.
After a year filled with hits like Solo Leveling, Sakamoto Days, and Zenshu, witnessing The Beginning After the End receive the most lifelike action scenes is indeed disappointing. Some fans hope that the controversy surrounding Episode 2 is merely a budget constraint and that the fight scenes can improve in later episodes. But only time will tell.
