Representation of LPL Requests Investigation After “Devastating” Loss at First Stand 2025
It can be said that the community has never felt as disappointed as it does at this current moment in League of Legends (LoL) history. In the recent international tournaments, the representatives of LPL have shown a glaring lack of strength. Despite having formidable teams like Top Esports (TES) at First Stand 2025, they have not been able to perform as expected. Apart from their narrow win against Team Liquid (2-1), they have faced defeats against all other opponents, including KC, CFO, and HLE, showcasing a troubling trend.

Moreover, a prominent coach from LPL, KenZhu, has expressed his concerns and requested an urgent investigation into the performance of TES. He mentioned during a stream: “Surely this team is facing issues regarding their capability to secure wins. There is definitely a 100% chance of selling. Isn’t it clear that Riot has not done anything significant in this regard? Every year there are sales, especially at the World Championship. Will Riot handle this appropriately?”

LPL Prepares for a Challenging Season Ahead
It can be understood that First Stand 2025 lacks significant implications; apart from the prize money (approximately $300,000) and an entry spot into the MSI 2025 group stage, there is nothing else motivating for the general season. Currently, the strength of HLE is overwhelming. Whether it is BLG, AL, or JDG, facing HLE is a daunting challenge for any team. Therefore, TES’s morale is understandably low.

However, if the situation persists where TES is unable to improve their performance, it would serve as a serious warning for LPL. Ultimately, TES remains a major force within LPL and will continue to be the representative for international competitions in the future. If this performance does not improve, it will be difficult for them to compete against teams such as KC, G2, or even TALON, and the VCS teams will also make it challenging for TES or LPL to maintain their standing.
