On February 27, 2025, FPT and GAM Esports (part of GAM Entertainment) announced a collaboration ahead of the 2025 competition season, marking a significant step in the strategy to develop professional Esports in Vietnam and leverage its potential on the international stage.
Vietnam is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing Esports markets in Southeast Asia. According to data released by the Vietnam Electronic Sports Federation (VIRESA) and OTA Network (Vietnam’s digital entertainment market report for 2022-2023), the number of people engaged in digital entertainment in Vietnam reached 28.2 million, accounting for 28.7% of the population. In 2023, the number of people following Esports in Vietnam comprised 16% of the total population, similar to Indonesia and Taiwan (China). Vietnam also ranks among the top 5 countries with the highest number of Esports followers in Southeast Asia in 2023. This demonstrates that digital sports in Vietnam continue to develop robustly, keeping pace with other popular sports.
The strategic collaboration to enhance Vietnam’s Esports ecosystem was officially established between FPT and GAM Esports during a signing event in August 2024. Following this agreement, FPT and GAM set a common goal of integrating Esports across various areas, including products and services within FPT’s ecosystem, such as education, content creation, and media, to enhance community awareness and increase engagement with Esports. Notably, both parties will work together to develop a vibrant Esports ecosystem, large-scale tournaments, Esports competitions, and gaming events to promote professionalism in the digital sports sector in Vietnam.
According to the comprehensive cooperation agreement, FPT will be the main financial supporter of GAM in its quest to participate in international competitions in the future. This partnership is not just a financial investment but also a long-term commitment between FPT and GAM to develop the Esports ecosystem, bringing Vietnam closer to leading international sports organizations.
