At launch, the monetization system was heavily tied to luck-based elements through loot boxes, leading to discontent among players. The negative feedback forced EA to remove premium currency entirely before the game’s official release, and they later had to design a completely new progression system, shifting away from traditional XP-based mechanics and making loot boxes a free item.
Following the aforementioned controversy, Battlefront 2 has maintained a dedicated player community at a relatively modest scale. Although the main character Cassian Andor does not appear in Battlefront 2, the Scarif battle from the movie “Rogue One” is fully represented in the game. Additionally, actor Muhannad Ben Amor, who plays a character in “Andor,” has contributed to the “revival” narrative by showcasing that he has played Battlefront 2 for a whopping 469 hours, emphasizing that this is a game worth diving into.
Returning to the game after several years brings a nostalgic feeling synonymous with a classic FPS, complete with a diverse cast of characters. The stunning graphics, combined with DICE’s signature quality (the studio behind the acclaimed Battlefield series), and iconic characters from the Star Wars franchise elevate the experience. The progression system has been entirely revamped, allowing players to unlock upgrades more seamlessly through gameplay. Notably, the free game that millions have received through the Epic Store now includes all content and cosmetic items. Currently, Battlefront 2 is attracting a plethora of new players – many of whom may not have experienced the game back in 2017 or found it too overwhelming.
