The Struggle of GAM Esports: A “Doomed” Journey
In the professional League of Legends (LoL) scene, it’s rare to find a team that “breaks the mold” quite like GAM Esports, which continues to compete for the national championship title despite facing numerous challenges. It requires no expert analysis or insider opinion; even casual fans can easily see that since the emergence of talented top laners like Zeros and Kiaya, GAM’s performance has largely revolved around Rồng – Đường Trên, regardless of whether they face formidable opponents or not.

The recent loss to MVKE was not the first time GAM has been pushed to a breaking point. In fact, Kiaya has consistently performed well, yet he is not considered the “savior” of the APAC LoL scene. However, with GAM’s ever-increasing reliance on him, they find themselves in a precarious position. When Kiaya struggles, the entire team’s performance tends to plummet, as seen in their recent match against Kratos.

Across various platforms in Vietnam’s LoL community, fans have expressed their confusion regarding GAM’s consistent focus on Kiaya, especially when Artemis also showcases remarkable abilities. On days when Kiaya’s performance falters, GAM tends to struggle significantly. They even prepared to let Kiaya play Nidalee—a champion that requires a high level of skill in the top lane—against a Sion, knowing full well that Nidalee would likely struggle in this matchup. Ultimately, while this might have been merely a “test run” for Kiaya, his loss in the third game with Camille raised serious concerns about the team’s direction.

Does GAM Need a Change in Strategy?
Currently, GAM is facing numerous challenges in the LCP 2025 Mid-Season, particularly with Levi and Kiaya’s performance on the decline. The coaching staff has acknowledged the necessity for adjustments, but whether these changes will be implemented remains uncertain. Nevertheless, GAM is likely to qualify for the playoffs as they are currently in a safe position. However, if they continue to perform as they have, the likelihood of GAM returning home early from MSI 2025 is quite high.
