GAM and the LCP League: A Clear Indication of Riot’s Policy
At the beginning of the season, Riot decided to merge the VCS, PCS, LJL, and LTS leagues into a single region called APAC. The main event for this region is the LCP, which aims to determine the performance of teams participating in international League of Legends tournaments. Initially, this decision sparked considerable debate, particularly between the two major regions of the APAC group: PCS and VCS. One side is significantly stronger in terms of expertise compared to the other (PCS), and the name itself often dominates discussions within the community. However, up to the present, many leaders in APAC have made the right moves under Riot’s guidance.

According to a recent statistic from Esports Charts, the total peak viewership for the match between CFO and GAM reached nearly one million. While this figure may not match the “view count” of top teams in the League of Legends community like T1 or those from the LPL, it is still quite impressive for APAC. It should be noted that this view count does not include viewers from China, which certainly adds significant interest, especially as part of CFO’s roster includes several notable names.

Additionally, the quality of professional play has shown significant improvement, indicating that the competition is becoming more intense. Many viewers still recall how CFO “sold merchandise” to Top Esports, Karmine Corp, and Team Liquid at First Stand, as well as how they made HLE “fall apart” in the process. Currently, CFO is the only team (excluding HLE) that has participated in First Stand 2025 and secured a slot for MSI 2025, while three teams from LPL, LEC, and LTA have already “flown colors”.
However, GAM and VCS Teams Need to Step Up
While the quality of APAC has improved, it is clear that teams such as TALON or CFO outshine the three VCS teams. This season, GAM has only recently secured a playoff spot in the PCS region, while teams like MVKE and TSW are still struggling.

The competition for the 2025 World Championship slot is fierce, particularly with the VCS – PCS rivalry, but the greater challenge lies in the North China region, which is currently producing exceptional results, while the League of Legends scene in Vietnam still has a long way to go.
