One of the most popular anime series in recent years, Jujutsu Kaisen has become a significant phenomenon. Currently, an exhibition is taking place in Tokyo to celebrate the anime and manga culture.
During the exhibition, Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, answered several questions about the series and shared some intriguing insights. One notable question addressed the technique known as Black Flash, which is a highly impactful ability in the series.
In Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Flash (Black Flash technique) is a phenomenon in the sorcery that enhances the user’s physical attack power at the moment of impact, resulting in a significant boost in strength. To put it simply, this technique allows the user to amplify their attack power at the precise moment of hitting the target.
Gege explained: “Katayama, my editor at the time, mentioned that he wanted a special technique for Yuji Itadori, but I felt that it wouldn’t be appropriate. That’s when I thought of Divergent Fist, and later it evolved into Black Flash, which has unique characteristics that not many others can replicate.”
I thought about Flash from the game Onimusha. It represents a powerful attack that is often utilized in real-time combat. I also appreciate that it doesn’t have to be an exclusive ability and can be used to increase attack power just after a single instance of use.”
If you are not familiar with Onimusha, it is an action-adventure game set in a historical samurai context where players guide the hero Samanosuke on a mission to rescue a princess from captivity. The attack that Gege referenced is the Innes attack, which players execute as the enemy approaches.
At the right moment, players can perform a special attack that causes significant damage. Another attack can even be performed more effectively by utilizing a button press.
Black Flash in Jujutsu Kaisen is particularly challenging, as not many can execute it correctly. Once someone manages to pull it off, the resulting attack is incredibly powerful. Both techniques mentioned are attack styles that anyone can utilize – if they meet the necessary criteria.
Onimusha: Warlords is the inaugural title in the legendary Onimusha action-adventure game series, which has spawned several sequels since its debut. The original game was released in 2001, but a remastered version launched in 2019 is available on PC, Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. As of now, no new sequels have been confirmed, making it difficult to find on modern gaming platforms.
