According to the newspaper Đàn Đô, the incident occurred around 10:30 PM on April 24. An 8-year-old girl named Adithyasree from Thrissur, Kerala, India, was lying on the bed watching animated movies on her mobile phone when she suddenly experienced a severe electric shock.
The loud noise drew the attention of neighbors nearby, who rushed to the scene. After regaining consciousness, Adithyasree’s grandmother, who was present, discovered that the girl’s face and right hand had sustained serious injuries, and she was unconscious, lying on the bed.
Although she was rushed to the emergency hospital as quickly as possible, sadly, Adithyasree did not survive, leaving her family in deep mourning.
According to a relative of Adithyasree, at the time of the incident, only her grandmother and Adithyasree were at home. Adithyasree loved watching animated movies, so after her regular school hours, she often lay on her bed using her mobile phone. Each time she used it, she would frequently hear warnings about the phone getting hot.
Through the investigation, authorities noted that the cause of the electric shock was likely due to the girl using her phone for an extended period, which caused the battery to overheat and ultimately fail. It is known that this mobile phone was purchased by Adithyasree’s family three years ago, and the battery was replaced just three months prior. It remains unclear whether the new battery was an original or a counterfeit.
