During a panel at New York Comic Con, the production of a brand new anime series for the Dragon Ball franchise was announced. The new anime will be titled Dragon Ball Daima. According to the promotional video released, the premiere is set for Fall 2024 (October to December).
Hello, I am Akira Toriyama. I am currently working on a new Dragon Ball movie. The title is “Dragon Ball DAIMA.” “DAIMA” is a compound word in Japanese meaning “evil spirit.” Due to a mysterious phenomenon, Son Goku and his friends have been transformed into children. To resolve this unusual situation, they will embark on a new adventure! This is a wonderful journey filled with thrilling action in a world that is both unfamiliar and mysterious.
As Son Goku has to adapt to his smaller size, he will once again use a stick to fight, which hasn’t been seen for a long time. I believe that the story and the settings will be very unique. Currently, I am working meticulously, even more so than usual! Each development will unveil the secrets of the Dragon Ball universe. I hope you will enjoy these battles that are distinct from the usual, fun, and powerful!

The Dragon Ball phenomenon began in 1984 when the famous Japanese manga by Akira Toriyama debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, quickly becoming a leading title for over a decade. Since then, the popularity of this manga has continued to rise, achieving an astonishing milestone of 260 million copies sold worldwide and still counting.
With the growing popularity of Dragon Ball, it has expanded beyond manga, encompassing various media including animated series, films, video games, and merchandise. Now, 39 years after the manga’s original publication, Dragon Ball continues to evolve and reach new heights.
