The film project about the charming Cajun character Gambit has captured the attention of fans since its initial announcement. However, one thing that has left fans in suspense until now is when exactly the Gambit film will officially start shooting, and even more importantly, when it will be released.
Recently, producer Simon Kinberg announced that main actor Channing Tatum will reprise the role of the charming Gambit and also hinted at the potential timeline for the film’s release.
“We currently have a pretty solid script and we hope to start filming as early as next spring.” Simon Kinberg shared with The Hashtag Show in a recent interview.
According to information from Comic Book Resources, the delay in the script’s readiness is the main reason for the postponement. Producer Kinberg feels that the script isn’t quite ready to be adapted into a film. “There was a time when we planned to start filming Gambit at the beginning of 2016, but after that, I felt that the script wasn’t ready according to our expectations,” Kinberg shared back in May.
Clearly, the growing expectations from producer Simon Kinberg do not diminish the strong competition that various film projects in the X-Men universe face, as we can see the ambition of 20th Century Fox in enhancing the quality of its superhero films to compete with the two main rivals, Marvel and DC.
Will these increasing standards lead Gambit to become a blockbuster and create a character that stands out like Deadpool did recently? Stay tuned for more updates about the film to find out.
