If you are a fan of intense battle machines like Titanfall and Pacific Rim leading up to Armored Core 6, then Steel Hunters might just be the game you have been waiting to experience.
This is a completely free PvPvE game that has recently entered Early Access on Steam, developed after a series of notable titles like World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes.

Initially, Steel Hunters is seen as a unique blend of battle royale and resource collection mechanics, where players must survive in a post-apocalyptic environment.
Players will control massive battle machines, engaging in combat while searching for rare energy sources from the remnants of a devastated planet. Notably, the first season of the game will not feature any microtransactions, a refreshing change from many free-to-play titles today. However, after a few hours of gameplay, Steel Hunters does not deliver the expected excitement, despite being released for free on Steam.

According to reports, just a few days after launching on Steam, this title has only received a “Mixed” rating with 55% of reviews being positive, based on over 1,600 player ratings. While some criticisms stem from connectivity issues during the initial phase, many reviews revolve around the feeling that the game lacks depth and is still unfinished. Steel Hunters has potential, but currently, it feels like a rough draft. The in-game environment is too monotonous and bland, making the experience quickly become tedious. Aside from the action gameplay, there is hardly any additional content to explore, creating a sense that the game is not ready for release.

Currently, the gaming community is closely monitoring the evolving gameplay of Steel Hunters, with numerous peaks of interest but also significant skepticism. As a mech-focused game, from Titanfall to Evangelion, it certainly aims to carve out a niche in the gaming landscape.
