During the early filming stages, the young cast of Harry Potter faced significant pressure while on their journey, especially when shooting took a long time. As a result, the crew and parents had to collaborate closely to help the actors maintain a balance between performance and study.
According to Rupert Grint, rather than taking classes at home, the young Harry Potter stars had a different approach to studying. The actors dedicated four hours each day to study right on set, after which they would continue to film their scenes. Despite the age differences, they all studied together. Grint even praised Emma Watson for being quite intelligent and for her ability to absorb knowledge, although he noted she was quite serious about it.
Not only did they have to manage their studies, but the Harry Potter students also had to figure out new ways to handle their assignments. This situation was cleverly addressed in the films, allowing the young stars to do their assignments directly on set.
This meant that scenes featuring students in a library, taking tests, etc., were when the actors were genuinely doing their assignments. Viewers had unknowingly seen the cast working on their studies right on screen, passing through various scenes without realizing it.
On another note, the three main actors of Harry Potter surprisingly had quite similar educational paths to their on-screen characters. Although they studied quite well, Daniel Radcliffe tended to shy away from academia, which is why he chose to focus solely on acting. Similar to his character Ron, he also took a break from schooling after finishing his GCSEs. Only Emma Watson not only enjoyed studying but excelled at it. She even achieved a degree from the prestigious Brown University, later attending Oxford University, becoming one of the few stars with educational backgrounds that stand out in Hollywood.
