In previous promotional materials, actors Lưu Hạo Tôn and Quách Kỷ Lân appeared alongside Thành Long. In the latest poster, Thành Long and Ngô Kinh (Wu Jing) are highlighted as the main characters, while Lưu Hạo Tôn and Quách Kỷ Lân have been noticeably omitted.

At first glance, the promotional materials suggest that Thành Long and Ngô Kinh are the main characters, but in reality, Ngô Kinh is only a supporting character. The decision to place their names prominently on the main promotional materials has led netizens to accuse the producers of misleading the audience.
In the latest trailer, the scenes featuring Lưu Hạo Tôn and Quách Kỷ Lân are significantly reduced, focusing primarily on Thành Long and Ngô Kinh. “If the film informs a change in the filming process to increase Ngô Kinh’s screen presence, it can be understood. However, aside from the poster and trailer, other announcements still list Lưu Hạo Tôn as the main character. The plot revolves around the father-daughter relationship, where Lưu Hạo Tôn plays Thành Long’s daughter,” reported Sohu.

The storyline of Long Ma Tinh Than centers around an actor named Lão La (Thành Long plays the role). He does not get along well with his daughter, which leads him to devote all his affection to his estranged daughter, the talented Xích Thố.
