Every season, anime introduces a plethora of new series, making it quite a challenge for fans to keep up with everything that airs. As a result, many fans tend to select only a handful of titles that resonate with their personal preferences. Therefore, the website Gakumado, which focuses on student life in Japan, has conducted a survey to see how many series students actually watch each season.
The results below are based on surveys conducted with 277 students, comprising 144 males and 133 females:
- 2 series (20.2%)
- 1 series (15.9%)
- 3 series (14.4%)
- 4 series (7.9%)
- 5 series (7.2%)
Some common sentiments shared by students in Japan regarding their viewing choices include: “Every season, I only find 2-3 series appealing,” “I try to narrow it down to what I genuinely find interesting,” and “Nowadays, not many anime series are captivating.”
However, there are also instances where students claim to watch a considerable number of new series each season. Notably, one 23-year-old student revealed he watches up to 20 new series every season: “I genuinely make an effort to watch every single one.”
It’s important to note that this survey directly reflects the preferences of anime fans, and for those less engaged, the average number they watch tends to be significantly lower. So how about our friends in Vietnam? How many new series do they typically watch each season?
