According to information published in this year’s 8th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, there are indications that Gege Akutami, the creator of the globally renowned manga Jujutsu Kaisen (translated as Sorcery Fight), is planning to finish the story of his beloved work this year. As is usually the case, this announcement is quite brief; Akutami wrote: “Happy New Year. I hope to complete the story this year.”
Akutami has made a definitive decision regarding the direction and way the story will conclude in the long term. A significant character, Megumi Fushiguro, has also been included in the planning stages.
In fact, Gege Akutami discussed the plan to complete the story during the Jump Festa 2023 event, stating that he aims to finish the story after a year of continuous work. Additionally, in February 2021, the Jujutsu Kaisen creator had previously announced that he would complete his work “after two years of continuous work.” However, this time, Gege Akutami has not provided any additional clarification, as the author has already communicated his intentions quite clearly.

Gege Akutami began publishing the manga Jujutsu Kaisen in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018.
The content of Jujutsu Kaisen revolves around high school student Yuji Itadori, who, after swallowing a finger belonging to a powerful Cursed Spirit, gains incredible cursed energy. The story continues as Itadori transfers to Tokyo Jujutsu High School. With the support of new friends and a mysterious teacher, Itadori uses his newfound cursed strength to battle various dangerous Curses, all while maintaining his humanity.
Jujutsu Kaisen resonates with readers due to its compelling plot, intense action, well-developed characters, and numerous unexpected twists. Most notably, the supernatural elements in Jujutsu Kaisen are quite distinct, showcasing a variety of unique and engaging storylines. The manga combines horror and supernatural themes, offering a fresh perspective that captivates the audience.

The first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation consists of a total of 24 episodes and aired during the Fall 2022 season (from October to December). Following that, a movie titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was produced and released on December 24, 2021, in theaters across Japan, with a second season set to premiere in July the following year in Japan.
