At The Game Awards 2024, one of the highlights that garnered significant attention from gamers was the revival of the iconic Onimusha series.
For those who may not know, Onimusha is a famous action-adventure franchise by Capcom that peaked in the early 2000s. Nearly 20 years since its last installment, Onimusha has not seen any new games released until now, as Capcom has decided to breathe new life into the series.

Specifically, Capcom has excited many fans by announcing that the latest project in the series, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, is currently in development and will be available to gamers in 2026.
The game already has its own dedicated Steam page. This is quite exciting news since the last main entry in the series, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, was released back in 2006 on PlayStation 2. Additionally, a remake of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny from 2002 is set to launch on May 23 across Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC.

Alongside this announcement, the price of the original titles in the Onimusha series has begun to rise significantly on resale platforms like eBay. Notably, the first two titles in the series, Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, are now priced between $10-15 each. Onimusha 3: Demon Siege and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams also see similar price increases, ranging from $25-30 for the former and up to $60 for the latter. Fortunately, some copies of these games are still available at retail stores for a regular price. The 2018 remake of Onimusha: Warlords has seen its value increase from around $15 to $60, with some listings even reaching $80 on resale sites.
With the release of the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remake coming in May and a completely new title set to launch next year, Onimusha is poised to attract even more attention in the coming time.
