Receiving a Lot of Attention from Gamers, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Now Available on Steam at an Affordable Price
Just like that, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has been cracked shortly after its release. In other words, various hacking groups have found a way to bypass this game on Steam and have uploaded it to illegal torrent sites.

Importantly, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has just launched on Steam on April 3, but the game cannot be “played freely” on the official platform for a day.
Information regarding the crack was announced on Twitter, and according to statements from the hacking groups, this process only took a few minutes. Shortly after its release, many other groups also released their own versions. According to data from SteamDB, the game currently has around 20,000 concurrent players online. This number could be even higher if all gamers had to purchase the game rather than accessing it for free from unofficial sources.

The fact that a game release on Steam is immediately cracked is no longer surprising. In January, the PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was also cracked within just 2 minutes of its release. After that, the number of players trying to access the game surged to nearly 300,000. Previously, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was also cracked just a few hours after its launch, despite Square Enix having introduced a 30% discount to encourage players to purchase the legitimate version. However, this situation does not seem to significantly affect the game’s revenue, as it remains one of the best-selling games on PC across the entire series.

The main reason for this situation is that the recent PC versions have not integrated the Denuvo DRM software. This is a management system designed to prevent copyright violations, which often gets criticized for negatively impacting game performance. In some cases, like InZoi, developers even go so far as to remove Denuvo to create favorable conditions for the modding community. However, many other publishers still refrain from integrating this software to avoid being cracked immediately after release.
