Actor Keanu Reeves had a promising acting career long before he took on the role of Neo in the science fiction action film franchise The Matrix. Although this wasn’t his first film, The Matrix undoubtedly propelled his career to astonishing heights. Even though he has become a household name over the years, with numerous prestigious awards, The Matrix remains “the best film” for Keanu Reeves.
“The Matrix changed my life, and over the years, it has positively transformed the lives of many others as well,” Reeves shared during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
He continued: “As an artist, you hope for something magical when you’re making a film or telling a story. Therefore, when you talk about these years, the number of people I’ve met who have spoken to me and been positively influenced by The Matrix… that’s truly wonderful.”

Keanu Reeves has participated in various projects following The Matrix, but this film remains one of the highlights of his illustrious career. The success of the original film led to two sequels released in 2003 (The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions). In 2021, he returned to reprise his iconic role in The Matrix Resurrections. In addition to the science fiction action genre, the actor has also explored different genres, including the superhero horror film Constantine in 2005 and the romantic drama The Lake House in 2006.

Reeves also took part in various other projects such as Street Kings, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, Side by Side, Man of Tai Chi, and 47 Ronin before ultimately landing another iconic role in John Wick in 2014. The story begins with the revenge of a man who has lost everything, developing into a successful film franchise with three sequels, with a fourth installment currently in production. Details regarding whether Reeves will return to play the lead assassin remain unknown.
