Following the success of Spencer, with her outstanding portrayal of Princess Diana in 2021, Kristen Stewart makes a striking return to the big screen with another intriguing project, Love Lies Bleeding.
This film is a chilling LGBTQIA+ horror thriller directed by Rose Glass. It revolves around the love story between Lou (Kristen Stewart), a gym manager, and Jackie (Katy O’Brien), a bodybuilder, set in the 1980s. Their relationship is marked by violence, dragging both into a web of familial crime that Lou is entangled in.

In the trailer released on December 19, 2023, some steamy images between Lou and Jackie captured significant attention from audiences. According to Variety, Lou and Jackie share several explicit scenes, including those set in the bedroom.
During an interview with Variety on January 11, Kristen Stewart discussed the “intimate” scenes with her co-star in this new film.
The 1990-born actress declared that the unique depictions of their romantic relationship in Love Lies Bleeding will be shocking as it authentically illustrates the physicality of intimacy.
“There’s no covering up, but this will make everyone feel something. What you usually see in films is a skirt being lifted, and someone crawling underneath. I think even the intimate scenes in this film will be very different because no one truly wants to reveal their own body. It feels genuine. I don’t mean to say this from an outsider’s perspective. I feel connected to it and it feels amazing to have someone witness what is real,” the actress shared.

Kristen Stewart emphasized that the film’s content evokes a strong emotional response and is completely different from Lou’s character—who is transgender, masculine, and doesn’t conform to societal norms—compared to all the female characters she has played throughout her career.
Director Glass describes Lou as carrying the burden of emotional weight, masculinity, and closeness to Kristen’s real-life journey more than any previous roles she has taken.
Kristen also expressed her excitement about Lou’s character traits. “There’s something about the allure of the moments that I find fascinating,” she stated.
Love Lies Bleeding is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20 and will have a wider release on March 8.
Kristen Stewart publicly came out as bisexual on the Saturday Night Live show in 2017. She is currently in a relationship with screenwriter Dylan Meyer.
Before Love Lies Bleeding, another film starring Kristen is Love Me, releasing on January 19. This is a science fiction film set in a dystopian future where she co-stars with South Korean actor Steven Yeun. In Entertainment Weekly, the actress described the film as a love story set against the backdrop of a sinking ship.
“I hope I don’t ruin it because it truly is a quirky, character-driven piece,” the actress noted.
