Just a few days ago, Lotus Chat, a messaging application “made in Vietnam,” has achieved a surprising breakthrough by ranking second on the App Store in Vietnam. Not only did it surpass Signal to claim second place in the social networking app category, but Lotus Chat also made it into the top 6 most popular apps across the entire App Store. This is an impressive achievement, especially for a local product in the messaging application sector.
Additionally, on Google Play Store, Lotus Chat has secured the fifth position in the list of the most popular messaging apps in Vietnam, alongside well-known names like Telegram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Zalo.
According to data from AppBrain updated until May 28, the download count for Lotus Chat has exceeded 220,000 on the Play Store, with projections to reach one million downloads by November 2024 and break even by May 2025. The increasing growth rate is indicative of the rising interest among users who are looking for a more comprehensive and enduring messaging app.

Not Just a “Chat App”
While Zalo currently limits free storage to just 0.5GB and compresses quality, Signal and WhatsApp do not cater well to large group collaborations. In contrast, Lotus Chat is clearly oriented towards meeting the needs of Vietnamese users in professional environments.
Lotus Chat allows users to send files up to 1GB without time limits on storage within the app. Group management is also more flexible, allowing group sizes up to 100 members without restrictions or “throttling” as seen in some other platforms.

Lotus Chat also supports creating specialized channels for discussions within groups, helping conversations flow clearly and avoiding the clutter typical in traditional messaging formats. Features like pinning messages, recording calls, and allowing users to remain anonymous in public groups further define Lotus Chat’s role as a professional collaboration platform.
Another strong point is its multi-platform capability, supporting iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and web browsers. With an open API, Lotus Chat also facilitates the integration of chatbots, internal tools, or workflows tailored to specific needs.

Importantly, Lotus Chat offers end-to-end encryption with its “Secure Chat” mode, ensuring that information remains confidential during sensitive exchanges.
Is This the Best Work Collaboration App?
It is no exaggeration to say that Lotus Chat is becoming the Slack version for Vietnam, but it is more user-friendly and community-oriented. The integration of messaging, teamwork, security, and extensive customization capabilities has made this app not just a common messaging service but a tailored solution for workplace communication in Vietnam—a gap that other apps like Telegram, Signal, or Zalo have yet to fill.

In the context of increasing user expectations for privacy, security, and a tailored experience, Lotus Chat is not just a messaging app; it is shaping up to be a symbol of Vietnamese technology. By integrating various features that personalize the user experience—such as audio notes, anonymity in chat groups, and sharing accounts across multiple devices—Lotus Chat clearly understands the behaviors and culture of Vietnamese users.
“I have been using Lotus Chat with the team at Vật Vờ Studio for more than a week, and I can clearly see the benefits when working in groups. The interface is user-friendly, with multiple users being able to communicate without the clutter found in other apps. I am encouraging the whole company to switch to this app for its efficiency and security,” shared Hiếu Tôm, a reviewer at Vật Vờ Studio.

“Lotus Chat has a crucial feature that I often use: the ability to record calls. I have recommended the entire store’s staff to switch to this app because it is secure and efficient,” shared Trịnh Hải, the store manager at ĐTH.
Holding the second position on the App Store and fifth on the Play Store is no longer just a “temporary phenomenon” but a real testament to the professional needs of Vietnamese users, who are seriously seeking a secure, effective communication platform designed by and for Vietnamese people.
With its current development trajectory, Lotus Chat is in direct competition with major players like Telegram, Zalo, and WhatsApp, marking a significant milestone for Vietnamese technology.
