IG’s Controversy at LPL 2025 Split 1
During the 2025 season, LPL has undergone significant changes in its competitive format. Unlike the previous Spring and Summer Seasons, this season will be divided into three phases, with the first phase named LPL 2025 Split 1 set to commence on January 12. Recently, the official competition schedule for LPL 2025 Split 1 has been released, and it has immediately sparked “drama” in the community regarding the “Super team” IG.
According to reports, the focal points of community discussions center around Groups C and D of LPL 2025 Split 1. In Group C, the defending champion BLG will face opponents with strong reputations such as EDG, LNG, and the rising star TT. Meanwhile, IG finds itself in a very “soft” group against teams perceived to be lower in ranking, such as FPX, NIP, and RNG. This led to skepticism from fans regarding the “blessed” placement of IG, especially as they have many star players. It’s worth noting that after IG’s crushing defeat to TES at the recent Demacia Cup, the excitement surrounding this tournament has significantly diminished, and LPL certainly doesn’t want to lose face over this issue.
The controversy surrounding the tier placements in LPL has raised eyebrows in the community. IG Must Strive Hard to Justify Their Placement in LPL
There are many opinions circulating about IG’s seemingly advantageous placement in the tournament. While it is true that IG has landed in a “soft” group, this does not guarantee that they will dominate or quickly rise to prominence. It’s important to note that at the recent Demacia Cup 2024, IG faced numerous difficulties in solo 1v1 matches and ended up suffering a heavy defeat against TES. Therefore, as this competitive season begins in LPL 2025 Split 1, IG must be cautious to avoid further losses in these solo matches.
It’s clear that the label of “Super team” carries immense pressure on IG. In the past, many teams deemed “Super teams,” like TES and JDG, have ended their seasons with disappointing results. Therefore, IG must strengthen their resolve and work hard to dispel any doubts surrounding their capabilities and to transform into a true champion team in the 2025 season.
