After Launching on Steam, Rise of the Ronin Faces Numerous Performance Issues, Resulting in a Less Than Optimal Experience for PC Gamers
However, the current situation remains precarious as nearly one million players have already engaged with this game. The reason behind this is that the game’s data processing for Rise of the Ronin is not unlike other games that have recently been released.

In Response to Community Feedback, Koei Tecmo Acknowledges Investigating the Data Loss Issue on the Game’s Steam Version
In a recent blog post, the publisher also outlined several temporary solutions, including checking the stability with third-party cloud storage services like Dropbox, recovering data from backups, and ensuring that the Steam Cloud feature is enabled. Many players have reported losing significant progress in the game due to this issue. Some have even received error codes when exiting the game, and upon returning, all saved data had vanished. The concerning aspect is that not only are the saves on Steam Cloud affected, but even local saves on players’ machines are being deleted.

The exact cause of the issue remains unclear—whether it is a fault with Steam Cloud or related to Koei Tecmo. However, this problem is increasingly troubling the state of Rise of the Ronin on PC. From its launch, the game has faced a variety of performance issues, rendering the experience less enjoyable than expected. Koei Tecmo has committed to releasing updates to improve performance on PC; however, for now, the company advises players to limit their FPS to 60 to avoid lagging situations. This has left many players disappointed, especially since the publisher had previously advertised the PC version supporting 8K resolution and 120 FPS. Yet the actual quality has proven to be subpar, with frame rates not stable even on high-end configurations.

Many players have expressed their disappointment while experiencing Rise of the Ronin on PC, even with performance issues; the game still receives positive reviews. Given the current situation, the loss of saved data is something that Rise of the Ronin did not anticipate. Hopefully, Koei Tecmo’s upcoming patch will address this serious issue. In the meantime, players are advised to regularly save their game and carefully check if their data has been backed up on Steam Cloud to avoid the risk of losing valuable progress due to a technical glitch.
