Monsters: The Return of Ryuma

The Monsters anime centers around the story of Ryuma, a samurai engaged in a fierce battle against a dragon while possessing the legendary sword, Shusui. This character is significant as he exists within the One Piece universe, hailing from Wano Country and having a notable connection with the Straw Hat Pirates member, Roronoa Zoro.
Although Monsters has not officially premiered on streaming platforms, Netflix has confirmed that the anime will debut in January. The upcoming series is titled MONSTERS: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation. Below are illustrations of the anime characters featured in Monsters. If you are curious about the color design of Ryuma, Flare, and Cyrano, these are their vibrant designs. Additionally, there are illustrations featuring other characters, including the dragon and D.R.

In the illustration above, Ryuma is depicted holding the sword Shusui, which is detailed to showcase its significance. Not only does Shusui represent a powerful weapon, but it also embodies a dark legacy.
This work predates One Piece, allowing fans to appreciate how character designs in Monsters may influence Luffy and his crew’s dynamics.
The storyline of Monsters will take us back in time to the tale of the samurai Ryuma. Many years ago, a magical dragon was defeated, and the samurai found himself engulfed in the chaos surrounding this fearsome creature.
