Recently, the film has released its official trailer, revealing intriguing storylines about the magical creatures and how they interact with the people in their world while bearing extraordinary powers.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is a comedic animated film centered around 16-year-old Ruby Gillman, who is shy and socially awkward. She always yearns to fit in with her classmates at Oceanside High School but struggles with anxiety that keeps her from engaging with others. Moreover, she is also apprehensive about swimming in the ocean due to her overprotective mother who forbids Ruby from going near the water. However, at this age, Ruby’s desire to break free and explore is stronger than ever. One day, when she defies her mother’s rules and dives into the ocean, Ruby discovers shocking changes within herself. Not only does she gain the ability to breathe underwater, but she also transforms into a powerful being with incredible abilities.

Ruby also encounters her grandmother, a legendary warrior from the depths of the ocean. She reveals to Ruby the truth about her heritage as a Kraken princess, tasked with protecting the underwater realm. Ruby’s timid nature makes her initially overwhelmed by this new reality, as she must now embrace a life filled with responsibility, adventure, and danger. Particularly when she comes face to face with the looming threats of the Kraken world that challenge her very existence.
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is directed by Kirk DeMicco, known for his previous work on animated films like Vivo, The Croods, and Space Chimps. The film features Faryn Pearl as the head writer, with contributions from Pam Brady (of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut) and production design by Pierre-Olivier Vincent (How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World).
